Cirò Marina is recognizable by the white lighthouse of Punta Alice, where the Greek temple of Apollo Alaios once stood. It is a pleasant seaside resort and an important fishing port that has recently developed as a maritime outlet of Cirò, located less than ten kilometers inland. The ancient Crimissa was an outpost of the nearby Crotone. The town is best known for its production of the most famous Calabrian wine, cirò, which accompanies the traditional sardella (small fish, green beans and peppers in olive oil). In the area of Punta Alice, there are several vacation villages.
