TRULLO SOVRANO
The largest trullo in Alberobello, with one floor and supporting twelve conical roofs
Sovrano literally means "sovereign", in reference to the unusual proportions of this 18th-century trullo. Classified as a National Monument in 1930, it has one storey and supports twelve conical roofs, one of which reaches a height of 14 meters. The largest trullo in Alberobello, it has served a variety of functions since its construction: chapel, pharmacy, monastery... before becoming the property of the Sumerano family in 1861. Inside, the well-reconstructed layout resembles a small museum of the region's popular traditions.
