Half an hour's drive from Barranquilla, Puerto Colombia is a seaside resort located along an arm of the sea forming a pond with flat and calm waters, with many small restaurants under ranchos with hammocks. It is the meeting place of the Barranquilleros who gather there on weekends to enjoy the sea breeze and the nearby beaches (Salgar, Pradomar, Puerto Velero...). At the end of the 19th century, Puerto Colombia was the maritime terminal of Barranquilla, with an imposing pier(muelle), which was being restored at the time of writing. From Barranquilla, it costs about $35,000 by cab and $2,500 by bus.
