This one square kilometer island is located north of Providencia, to which it is connected by the Puente de los Enamorados ("Lovers Bridge"). The bridge, rebuilt in 2022, retains its cheerful colors, which stand out over the crystal clear waters of the Aury Canal. This 150-meter wide channel was dug by pirates in the 17th century to protect themselves from other invaders. On Santa Catalina, the remains of Fort Warwick and some cannons where iguanas hide, as well as a small beach for snorkeling. There is also the famous Cabeza de Morgan, a rock shaped like the head of the famous English pirate.
