ISLAND OF PORQUEROLLES
A famous island thanks to its color, offering 12.5 km² of exceptionally unspoilt nature with a harbor and a few private homes.
It is one of the most famous islands of the Var, notably because of the color of the Mediterranean Sea which, in places, has nothing to envy to the Caribbean or the Seychelles. About ten minutes by boat from the peninsula of Giens, Porquerolles seems to be delicately placed on the waters of the Mediterranean. A perfect postcard cliché where enchantment seems permanent, Porquerolles is one of the three Golden Islands off the coast of Hyères, along with Port-Cros and Ile du Levant. This preserved place offers its visitors some 12.5 km2 of a nature as virgin as exceptional managed by the Port-Cros National Park since 1971 and classified "heart of the national park" since 2012. With only one port, a few private houses that blend in perfectly with their Mediterranean environment, a few hotels on a human scale and a charming village where most of the island's human and economic activity has been concentrated since 1920, this heavenly nature reserve with 30 km of wild coastline and some magnificent pine forests with delicately scented essences invites the visitor to an enchanting and bewitching walk. Discovering this island is worthwhile: it can only be done on foot or by bicycle, following the 54 km of marked hiking trails between land and sea, which will lead the walker from the forest to the steep cliffs, but also to some more secret beaches and jagged coves, whose clear and sometimes turquoise waters offer a spectacle of great beauty.
