The village of Baro is located 37 km from Kouroussa (30 minutes drive). The road is paved until the junction on the right. From there, you have to follow a track for 6 km. This small fishing village, on the banks of the Niandan River, is known throughout Guinea for its Mare festival, a centuries-old tradition that dates back to the 13th century, during the Mandingo Empire. The village and its surroundings are also well known for the presence of great djembefola masters (djembe players). Mansa Camio, today "guardian of the Baro pond", is one of these masters, he shares his time between Guinea and his international tours.
