It is one of the oldest and most important indigenous homes in El Salvador. Nahuizalco was founded and inhabited by the Pipils. Some indigenous people still speak the nahuatl (pre-Columbian language originating in the Mexican highlands) and in the streets, one can still meet some women in traditional pipils clothes. The night market with small candles is worth a look (every day until 22 p. m.). During th, you can also enjoy local specialities based on yuka (yuka de, yuka tamales, etc.). Some colonial buildings flatter their eyes. Nahuizalco (whose name nahuatl means "four Izalcos", since it was once four times greater than Izalco), is a village of craftsmen where we essentially work the wicker or tule (a reed), rattan, as well as cedar and laurel. Nahuizalco does not offer tourist accommodation at the moment. From 20 to 25 June, don't miss the celebrations in honour of San Juan Bautista; folk songs and dances.
