Vardø is located on a small island facing the Barents Sea. Connected to the mainland by a long tunnel (and Norway's first underwater tunnel). With the exception of a few small museums and a small church, the town is not very lively. The surrounding countryside, however, is well worth the trip! Take a short stroll to the north of the island before setting off again. Its harsh climate is unaffected by the Gulf Stream.
