This former barter house is located at the very bottom of Rana Fjord. The Meyer family bought the place in 1860 for trading purposes. At the end of the 19th century, with the exploitation of iron mines in the Dunderdalen valley and the development of the railway, the town prospered. The third largest city in Northern Norway and heir to the iron industry, it is a centre of commerce and service. The Norwegian Iron Company, also known as Mo Industrial Park (MIP), is actually divided into hundreds of small companies. It is also the gateway to the Saltfjellet - Svartisen National Park, which is about an hour north.
