On the road to Nam Ngum, 50 km from Vientiane. From the capital, take a bus at Talat Sao 11 h bus station; count 1 hour 30. Get off at Ban Somsamai, then take a boat (3 US $); The journey lasts half an hour. The village of Pako, all bamboo, was one of the first ecotourism sites in Laos.
