Located 75 km north of Macomia and 41 km from Mueda, this small typical village marks the entrance to Makonde country. The place does not present any particular interest, but is very appreciable for those who wish to mingle with this people descended from the Bantus. Muidumbe is rarely visited by travelers. However, it is a good place to stop, smell the air, stroll in its colorful market, and why not spend the night. A bridge, inaugurated about ten years ago, now allows to cross the Rovuma River, separating Mozambique from Tanzania, at the level of Negomane. The natural traffic of the region then passes through Mueda.
