A downhill and cross-country ski resort located on the road axis connecting Banská Bystrica in the south and Ružomberok in the north. 25 km from Banská Bystrica on the E77 road. During the Second World War Donovaly was a strategic place of resistance against the German army. Today, it is a major tourist centre in the country with quality infrastructure, hotels and restaurants, and an interesting ski area (11 km of slopes) scattered over Mount Zvolen (1,402 m above sea level) and Nová hoľa (1,370 m above sea level). On the border between the Great Fatras and the Low Tatras, it is a good starting point for hikes in summer.
