Monuments to visit Naples

Founded in the th century, the city grew to the th century under Norman rule. A major shopping centre with the East, in particular, the Amalfi Maritime Republic rivals two main cities: Pisa and Genoa. In 1135 Amalfi, however, fell into the hands of the Republic of Pisa. Submitted, she nevertheless enriched herself with her main buildings, still preserved today. Its cathedral, from the end of the th century, remains the most important monument of the Amalfi coast and makes the city glory. Dedicated to Saint Andrea, it presents a majestic staircase, a porch adorned with a bronze door from Constantinople and a polychrome mosaics facade.

Founded by the Etruscans in the th century BC and finally conquered by the Romans in the th century BC, long remained one of the strategic squares of the kingdom of Naples, its beautiful palaces testify to its past richness. To dwell on the ancient amphitheatre (the second century B.C.B.C.) and the Mithreum, Pagan temple devoted to the cult of Mithra (Second-third century).

The Latin author Craftsman-Alive evokes the Etruscan city on several occasions, which will have its hour of glory between the Lombardy (VIIIe) and Normandy (xie) period. See the Duomo built in the th century incorporating various classical elements, including polychrome pavement, from the old atrium, as well as the colonnades. Its current baroque appearance stems from the redevelopment of the 1688 earthquake. You can also take a look at the castle di Arechi which dominates the city.

Its construction decided in 1647, on the donation of Giovan Battista Burgo, began only 35 years later. The façade was redesigned in the th century and was designed by Solimena. Great wealth of works of art, mainly the th and th centuries. Among the many paintings are the Virgin, Saint Peter and Saint Paul de Solimena, the Death of Saint Nicholas de De Matteis, and The Marriage of the Virgin of De Maio.
