It is the most beautiful village in this region, a small concentrate of local architecture, medieval remains and tourist dynamism. It is not the biggest urban center of Beskydy, but it is the most pleasant and it is easy to find a bed (if you book in summer). Moreover, the city and its surroundings are famous for the excellent gingerbread produced here: the famous Štramberk ears, a delicacy whose recipe dates back to the Mongol invasions, when the inhabitants flooded the enemy camp by diverting a river. The next morning, the Mongols had broken camp, leaving behind only their famous trophies: thousands of ears of defeated opponents! This had the merit of avoiding the annihilation of the village and inspiring the local bakers, who are now only a handful to be able to produce the delicacy according to the original recipe, whose precise composition is obviously kept secret. Štramberské uši are a good idea for a souvenir to take home, both typical and historical.
