Travel Guide Lednice-Valtice

Czech, Slovak, Austrian or German tourists are numerous, every summer, to visit this wine-growing area, partly transformed into a giant park by the Liechtenstein family. The influential family, who reigned here for 600 years, mainly from the beautiful Baroque castle of Lednice, decided to create a huge park to its summer residence of Lednice.To achieve this, they planted trees, tracèrent the aisles, asséchèrent the marshes, add bridges, temples, towers… and build the landscape as they wish. This area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is called Lednicko-Valtický Areál.
