In 1850, Brixham was the largest fishing port in England. Today, about a hundred boats are still in operation and one particularly appreciates its small colourful cottages in pastel and picturesque tones which make it a true charming town where the winding streets offer beautiful shops, restaurants and cafes. On the port, pleasure boats and fishing boats are found side by side. It is one of the busiest fishing ports in England. The town is also famous for having seen William of Orange land in 1688 to march against the Catholic James II and be crowned as William III.
