Paignton is certainly less beautiful and less posh than Torquay, however, its beaches, lined with multicoloured huts, are more pleasant. The town centre, on the other hand, is not very interesting: the slot machines are followed by video games and French fry vendors. However, many prefer it in Torquay, since it is less touristy, more pleasant and friendly. It is a small town where life is good. Paignton is located on the English Riviera Park, which is accredited by Unesco! There is a lot to do here throughout the year with very nice parks, even if the port and the seaside are its main assets.
