Travel Guide Isla Cubagua

Welcome to this 24 km 2 desert island located 15 km west of Coche, north of the Arraya peninsula. Why not visit the ruins of Nueva Cadiz, the first city founded in America that counted up to 8000 inhabitants? There are archaeological remains, including some 3 000 year old columbian dates. This city was born of the lucrative pearl trade (from 1510 to 1540), which then represented 30% of the riches of the King of Spain. Today the island is arid and dry with a few beaches where two fishermen's families live.
