History buffs will remember that it was in Hoffman, a fairly well preserved colonial village, that Admiral Padilla and General Manrique were seen before the decisive naval battle of Maracaibo against the Spaniards.More interesting, from Hoffman to the largest pink flamingos reserve in the country, in this case the head of the 108 bird species that one encounters in this natural reserve of 33 000 hectares, located 50 km north-east of Maracaibo. The flamingos arrive from the north in August, fleeing the winter, and enjoy the pleasant climate of Zulia to rest, feed and reproduce. Near the coast, there are also some manatees and marine turtles.
