The Caravelle is the name of the miniature replica of the wooden ship in storefront, but also of this historic restaurant of Via XXII Marco, located just steps from San Moses Church and near Saint Mark Square. The bar, adjacent to the restaurant, was used by famous writers, such as Simone de Beauvoir and Jean-Paul Sartre, during their stay in Venice for years after the war. Inside, a cozy atmosphere for a wooden decor that evokes old ships. A distinguished clientele, most often staying at Hotel Saturnia, is located at lunch or dinner, to taste traditional dishes prepared carefully. Beautiful selection of pasta, risotti, seafood, fish… Quick and attentive service. A very good address.

A haven for young artists and patrons of the arts in the 1950s and 1960s, this neighborhood restaurant began a new life a few years ago thanks to the meeting of a talented sommelier and an inventive chef. They cultivate the reputation of this table by suggesting careful menus. Risotti, spaghetti, fish, tartar and burrata make up the menu, accompanied by a selection of Italian wines. For dessert, try the exquisite lemon pie.

A nice address at very good prices, easily reached on foot from the piazzale Roma. It takes its name from a famous thoroughbred, winner of many races at French racecourses. We appreciated the well-kept setting and the flowered garden where we can settle down when the weather is nice. The Venetian cuisine offers beautiful plates of fish cooked with talent (spaghetti with cuttlefish ink, scallops). The products are fresh, and the dishes, including bread and pasta, are homemade.

Along the Fondamenta Nuove, facing the magnificent lagoon landscape that overlooks the northern islands, here is a restaurant that sets the bar high both for the setting and the content of the plate. Inside, the atmosphere is modern and cozy, and outside, a terrace that floats on the water for even more relaxed meals. Behind the stove, ingredients are assembled with a permanent quest for culinary refinement. Those in a hurry will simply stop by the bar for an espresso with brioche, or for the evening spritz and cicchetti.

The restaurant is located in an old sacristy that until ten years ago housed the art gallery of a famous master glassmaker. In the kitchen, apart from the traditional pizzas, which are counted by the dozens, the owner Giuseppe Calliandro reappropriates almost all the treasures of local cuisine, such as Venetian liver served with polenta, cannelloni with Doge or scampi alla busera. Whatever you order, your plate will be deliberately generous. The wine list is also qualitative. Good reception in addition.

In the ghetto, you can eat delicious pizza in the large room or, in summer, outdoors, on the small square, distorted by the roots of a very old tree. It is calm, pleasant, but invaded by mosquitoes. A shadow of the table… Good kitchen and warm welcome.

We eat the traditional dishes of Venetian culture, even if you often regret a lack of finesse… A wide selection of pasta (including the tagliatelles with della Dona Onesta), but also seafood, fish frills and meats, can be found here. Opt for this address if you're in the corner, otherwise you'll get your way. It's more "honest" to say it.

This establishment is located in what was once one of the first banks in Venice, hence its name. In summer, a beautiful terrace is set up along the canal, right next to the Rialto. The quality of the dishes offered could make you think that you are at one of these prestigious addresses with jealously guarded culinary secrets. This is true, even if the recipe of the house is actually more direct and traditional. The fish, for example, comes from the nearby Rialto market. It is ultra fresh and accompanied by a varied wine list.

Although the pizzeria touches a little with its décor and its small garden does not have too much charm, the best pizzas can be found in a quiet and enchanting area. The Anfora also has the merit of making excellent pizze pizze (probably the best in the city), pizzas without tomato sauce where the mozzarella is directly placed. We read on the menu, subtitle, "The Best Pizza," and that's true. 90 types of pizza, so say the choice is embarrassing. The decor is far from beautiful, so to say: it's not beautiful at all (road style style). Space is small and fast service. Nothing surprising in sum, if it's these huge pizzas, good to fall! The service is pleasant, pretty fast.
