Today, it serves tasty cuisine based on the culinary traditions of various Italian regions, such as spaghetti with sardines or goose in prune sauce. Special mention goes to the cheeses and charcuterie. The address is also famous for its Art Nouveau setting, in particular the Salle Liberty, a large function room that hosts monthly tango evenings.

A pizzeria among the best known of the Navigli. Pizza, very fine and wide, is enough to satisfy the most ferocious appetites. Several types of pizzas are proposed, some adapted to various intolerances: white pizza (without tomato sauce), gluten free pizza, lactose-free, and even pizza flour.

In the fourns for twenty years, a sympathetic couple of Trieste, great collectors of cutters and small liqueur glasses whose copies adorn the rooms. Their cuisine vogue between Milanese tradition with a French touch and Italian regional specialties. The atmosphere is young and very friendly.

A little corner of Rome in the heart of Milan. This restaurant has already won over a loyal following of diners who can't get enough of its informal, dolce vita trattoria atmosphere. Two courses in the evening, under the supervision of the owner who arrived in Milan with the ambition of promoting Roman cuisine, in two small, discreetly lit rooms where every evening, recipes from the capital put on a show: bucatini all'amatriciana, spaghetti cacio e pepe, baked abbacchio, saltimbocca à la romaine, artichokes à la juive and many more...

A few steps from the Roman ruins of Via Moriggi, an ancient osteria dating back to the 1920 s with its original home. It sounds in a cellar, which is true because this place is mostly a oenothèque. There are also exceptional Italian sausage plates and a few hot dishes like the traditional maccheroni al.

A small room, once a dairy, now converted into a bistro and now the kingdom of Chef Arturo. A very busy place, especially for journalists from the neighbouring Corriere della Sera . A family run business that offers daily traditional dishes such as stewed pasta, bean soup, but also a lot of vegetables such as this cauliflower served with rice, and roast veal with zucchini juice. The organic wine can be drunk well; a reproach, its position in the heart of Brera has let the prices on the menu go up somewhat.

A tasteful decor, fast service and a tempting menu make this pizzeria a sure bet in Milan's Porta Venezia district. It always sells out, especially at weekends, so be sure to make a reservation. The Neapolitan dough pizzas, made with quality ingredients, are succulent and well worth discovering. We particularly like the giolina, a pizza with eggplant and parmesan. At the end of the meal, we recommend you indulge in a tiramisù, which is delicious here.

At Miscusi's, the pasta served is fresh, and you can admire the pastry chef at work! You will be asked to choose the type of pasta you want(trofie, tagliatelle, paccheri...) , and your sauce before adding any ingredients such as burrata or crushed nuts. And if you prefer to rely on the know-how of the cooks, take a look at the specialities of the day on the slate. A friendly atmosphere and very affordable prices, we can only recommend. On the side of Cimitero Monumentale, a nice gourmet stop for those who would like to escape from the culinary world. The tradition of ramen (a soup of Japanese origin) is offered here in all its splendor. However, the ingredients are all Italian, sourced from small producers. Thus the fine and soft noodles of the ramen are prepared by hand with wheat of the Botte. Cooked in beef broth (or seaweed for vegetarians), the result is divine. Another specialty is gyoz (Japanese ravioli) with pork and fermented cabbage.

Here's a contemporary kebab with a vegan spirit, but not only. On site or to take away, it serves hearty wraps filled with seasonal salad, eggplant, pomegranate, tomato, hard-boiled egg and mayonnaise, accompanied by fries. This is followed by falafels, humus, babaganoush, salads and other carefully prepared specialties from the gastronomic lands of the Mediterranean. You can also personalize your sandwich by choosing the type of bread, sauce and filling. Place your order at the counter and wait for a call to collect your meal.

Zibo was born a few years ago as a food-truck, before becoming this charming little restaurant not far from Sant'Ambrogio. The menu changes according to the season, and features traditional Italian recipes, often revisited, and always prepared using traditional methods. On our visit, we particularly liked the squash, amaretti and mostarda ravioli. The setting is warm and inviting, with seating for around 30 and an open kitchen, and the service is friendly. Just a stone's throw from the Navigli (a ten-minute walk), you'll find this genuine Milanese canteen, which welcomes local employees and regulars every lunchtime. A local address where prices are low but quality is high: what more could you ask for? On the other hand, it's best not to be in a hurry, as the queue can get pretty long. The atmosphere is friendly, almost family-like. The homemade desserts are particularly delicious. Make sure you're still hungry, as the portions are generous!

A historic pizzeria in the Chinatown district, on Via Paolo Sarpi. Here you'll be served the famous "pizza al trancio", a slice of pizza fresh from the oven. This pizza, very different from the well-known Neapolitan pizza, is so hearty that it's sold by the slice. The locals love it! At Giuliano's, the base is always a margherita. You can enjoy it as is, or add ham or olives, which are available as extras... To eat in or take away, it's a must in Milan!

Without any doubt an address to remember, just in front of the Bosco Verticale. The kitchen, open non-stop from morning to night, mixes Spanish and French influences and honors quality Italian products. The menu changes every day according to the season. The trendy industrial decoration makes it a pleasant place for a break at any time of the day. And if you're around early in the morning, you can also have a sweet or savory breakfast.

For a taste of Neapolitan savoir-faire in the Lombard capital, head for Starita with its succulent pizzas - starting with the margherita. The fritti, or appetizers, are also delicious: try the zucchini flowers, for example, or the fried mini-pizza with ragù sauce. Finally, there are a few desserts to end the meal on a sweet note: from traditional tiramisù to angioletti fritti, small pieces of fried pizza dough covered in chocolate! For a good, inexpensive pizza, Starita is a safe bet.
