At 780 meters above sea level, Tomohon enjoys a pleasant climate. Halfway between Kawangkoan and Manado, wedged at the foot of the Lokon volcano (1,580 m), the village of Tomohon is frequently tested by the tremors of the volcano that dominates it, and the smell of sulfur can be very strong. Also known as "The City of Flowers" (Kota Bunga), the village is fragrant, full of flowers and dotted with carpets of cloves drying in the sun. Florists and nurserymen abound. But the real attraction is climbing the surrounding volcanoes.
