This village of 5,000 inhabitants is located 27 km south of Râmnicu Vâlcea and about 15 km from the spa Băile Govora. The most pleasant road starts from the latter. We pass through small, neat, flowery villages, where we move mostly by cart, where we play football between the haystacks. Frânceşti marks the border of the Oltenia Hills region. Just a little further south, leaving towards Băbeni (on the road Râmnicu Vâlcea-Drăgăşani), you find yourself in the Oltenia of the plains. Poor and dusty villages replace the flowery hillside towns, while disused factories follow one another.
