Alligator Pond can be reached via Treasure Beach, Mandeville and the Southfield Road. Tucked between two mountain ranges, away from the main roads, the small fishing village is at the end of a dusty road that ends in a track. The village has remained frozen in another era. The wooden houses are built just back from the beach, the wooden dugouts painted in bright colors are pulled on the sand sheltered from the waves, the fishing nets picked up by the older ones drying in the sun. A dusty central square serves as the center of the village. A few more solid buildings frame this square. A few tired collective cabs are waiting to fill up with passengers to leave for Mandeville. A few stores, a grocery store, a bazaar, and an open-air market for all businesses.
