Christiana is an important town in the eastern part of the Central Range, 18 km from Mandeville, on a natural rise whose cool climate and vegetation are reminiscent of other more temperate latitudes. Its climate makes it a pleasant resort. The region has developed a rich and varied agriculture. The architecture here is less tropical and sometimes takes on a distinctly British air. The town boasts Moravian churches with a simple architectural style typical of the last century, all made of grey stone and slate roofs with pretty, naive clocks. The most beautiful churches are Bethany, Zorn and Mizpah. Perched on top of small hills, they are in perfect condition, very picturesque and worth a visit. The market is active from Thursday to Saturday, with local farmers unloading their cargo of vegetables and fruit, but it is the women who man the stalls and negotiate the prices.
