NIKOLAIKIRCHE
Late Gothic church built between the and centuries, with towers offering panoramic views over the city.
Saint-Nicolas church, a true symbol of the town, is a jewel of late Gothic architecture. Built between the 13th and 16th centuries, it has three naves. The staircases to the towers can be climbed, but you'll have to climb all 217 steps! From up there, you can enjoy an indescribable panoramic view of the city. In the church's beautiful baptistery, you'll also find an ancient Gothic altarpiece and a majestic organ. Thomas Müntzer began his career as a preacher in this church, before initiating the Peasants' Revolt.
