The small museum, which tells the story of chocolate and its production process, is designed in a very playful way. Before the eyes of the curious, the craftsmen shape the precious delicacies certified "pure chocolate", original and delicious, in solid or liquid form. Brownies are the best in Quebec, at least that's what customers say. The classic Érico chocolate cake enjoys the same prestige, not to mention hot chocolate, available in a dozen varieties, and homemade ice creams and sorbets in summer. A must have!

MADAME GIGI

Confectionery

The large bay windows of this small but renowned shop are an eye-catcher. Once inside, you really wonder which delicacy to start with: macaroon, caramel (a must-try!), fudge, nougat, cupcake, chocolate-covered fresh fruit skewers, sorbet, gelato, whipped milk, smoothie... Seasonal festivities also bring their share of flavours, such as at Christmas, when we find gingerbread treats. Note that several products are adapted to the keto diet. Enjoy!

PAILLARD

Bakery

If the palate had a memory, it would be haunted by Paillard's butter croissant: a crispy cover and a very tender center, a good taste of butter, it's a marvel! But it shouldn't overshadow the pastry department, with its wide variety of macaroons and other millefeuilles made by a chef trained in the best schools. Breakfasts, salads, sandwiches and quiches are also delicious! This great bakery also offers chocolates, caramels and homemade jams, not forgetting its coffee.

ÉPICERIE J.A. MOISAN

Delicatessen €€

Founded in 1871 by Jean-Alfred Moisan in the heart of the Faubourg Saint-Jean, this neighbourhood delicatessen is a true institution in Quebec City. Although renovations have brought the place up to date, its old-fashioned cachet is still very much present. In addition to its many fine products, the shop is full of other delicious products such as cheeses, cold cuts, ready-to-eat foods, coffees and teas, microbrewery beers... And we can't pass over without mentioning its wine cellar which includes one of the largest collections of Quebec wines.

DISTILLERIE STADACONÉ

Liquor store €€

Opening in the summer of 2019 in Old Limoilou, this distillery is frankly unique. First, because it incorporates the history of the surrounding area (the distillery is located halfway between the site of the Iroquois village of Stadacona and the place where Jacques Cartier settled), and second, because it decided to create an on-site escape game, which is a prelude to the guided tour. In terms of products, three gins with local flavors as well as a Nordic Pale Ale, alcoholic ready-to-drink and an aronia liqueur. To be discovered!

BEIKO

Patisserie

It was thought quite impossible to find a maple bacon doughnut that would surpass Brewnuts' in Cleveland, USA. Well, it's done, and the memory is memorable: the abuse of crispy bacon bits makes it the undisputed champion. We also brought back a few other tasty donuts for the road (a few vegan options on the menu): café praliné, caramel apple pie, marzipan... Finally, the place also serves milkshakes, smoothies, coffees, teas and hot chocolates.
