Petit Futé's opinion on MONTREAL BIODOME
In this completely unique "space for life", the most extraordinary ecosystems in the Americas have been reconstituted: the Gulf and estuary of the St. Lawrence, the Laurentian maple grove, the tropical rainforest, and even the sub-polar regions of the Labrador coast and the sub-Antarctic islands. The idea is to make the population aware of the precariousness of our environment with a view to preserving biodiversity and adopting responsible behaviour. Highly appreciated in all seasons, we recommend the "experience" of a visit to the rainforest in the middle of winter. This ecosystem, full of amphibians, reptiles, birds and fish in heavenly colours, is a real culture shock and will make you forget the cold outside.
The Montreal Biodome has undergone major renovations, designed by KANVA, NEUF architect(e)s, Bouthillette Parizeau and NCK. Its reopening took place with great fanfare at the end of August 2020, with, among other things, a highly anticipated new feature: the Migration project, whose scenography is based on immersive, interactive and innovative experiences. The goal: to appeal to the senses and offer visitors a different vision of their ecosystems, all enhanced by bold and complementary experiences. And it's a great success! Also on site: a souvenir shop and a gourmet counter that is entirely vegetarian and vegan.
