ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT

Petit Futé's opinion on ENTERTAINMENT DISTRICT

Vintage plate 2020

Culture reigns supreme in this bustling neighbourhood, especially with the arrival of summer and the famous festival season.

"Living, creating and entertaining downtown" is the vision of the members of the Quartier des spectacles partnership! With a rejuvenation program that never ceases to beautify and improve this immense quadrilateral, this is definitely the place to go to experience the "Cultural Montréal".

The neighbourhood is home to many of the estate's institutions: concert halls and bars, museums and exhibition venues, libraries and media libraries, cinemas, not to mention the cultural information desk La Vitrine. The Quartier des spectacles is also close to ten public squares, including the Place des Festivals and its surroundings, host to major events and colourful temporary installations.

Luminotherapy: an interactive winter experience that varies each year in the form of a participatory installation.

21 Swings: a creation made to measure for the Quartier des spectacles installed in April-May on the Promenade des Artistes. Each swing produces a musical note and the participation of everyone creates a melody.

Jardins Gamelin: ephemeral development offering a host of free cultural and civic activities, ranging from salsa evenings to concerts by local artists and family workshops. There is also an urban agriculture site offering conferences and involving the community. On-site restaurant and bar service. Open every day until 11pm on Place Émilie-Gamelin, from mid-May to the end of September.
