Inaugurated in 1995 in the former U.S. pavilion at Expo 67, one of Montreal's architectural landmarks and the work of architect Buckminster Fuller, the Biosphère unites culture, social innovation and the environment. Its exhibitions, events and mediation activities provide a better understanding of the major socio-environmental issues of our time through a dialogue between science, art and society, all in a democratic space where ideas circulate. Built in the heart of Parc Jean-drapeau, in the former Expo 67 pavilion, this museum focuses on environmental education. Its geodesic architecture, designed by Richard Buckminster Fuller, is an expression of contemporary environmental thinking. Since its integration into Space for Life in 2021, the museum has strengthened its commitment to raising awareness of environmental issues and the preservation of the planet. Young and old are invited to adopt eco-responsible gestures through the artistic installations and activities that are offered on site. Beyond its socio-responsible and cultural aspects, Biosphère is also a charming place that impresses with its green walls and its lights at night.
