Located north of the Sunshine Coast on the Strait of Georgia, the Powell River area is the territory of the Sliammon First Nation. The small town was founded by a logging company that once operated the largest pulp mill in the world. Powell River today is a great playground for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Kayaking, canoeing, fishing, golfing, scuba diving and walking are all popular activities. To get to Powell River, you will have to take another ferry at Earls Cove (Egmont), 81 km from Langdale on Highway 101. You will dock at Saltery Bay after crossing Jervis Inlet: Powell River is 35 km away.
