If you come here (regional bus since Valdivia), it is mainly for the Spanish castle San Luis de Alba de Cruces (open in summer from Monday to Sunday from 10 am to 13 pm and from 14 pm to 20 pm; in winter, open from Tuesday until 18 pm only. Entry: $ 500). Built in 1647 by Governor Negrete, his first function was to defend the city against possible incursions of English or Dutch by inland waterway, but it converted to the last border crossing. When the Spanish arrived there, they could then continue their road by the river, free of any Mapuche threat. After his occupation in 1820 by the troops of Beauchef, the fort sank in total oblivion.
