Travel Guide Lolodorf

From the Kribi bus station, you can head inland for a long journey to Lolodorf and its large forest, via Bipindi. The scenery changes very quickly, the road sinks quickly into the middle of the equatorial forest. We cross a whole network of forest roads that lead to campsites. The fauna and flora of this region are particularly rich: from the smallest rodents to the very discreet bush elephants and monkeys. It is practically impossible to see one of these large animals from the road.On the other hand, you can easily see magnificent birds (toucans, parrots, owls...), or huge bats at nightfall (as in Kribi), and thus bring back superb photos. The road from Kribi to Lolodorf is particularly difficult and rough, but the spectacle is of rare beauty. The Bidjoka Falls in particular, after Bipindi, are worth a detour.It is difficult to expect an average speed of more than 20 to 25 km/h and, in any case, unless you drive your own vehicle, you are dependent on the bus company that will take you there (mechanical breakdown, delay at the time of departure, systematic stop in the small villages crossed, etc.). Lolodorf is an old small village which, at the time of German colonization, was ruled by a chief named Loulé (now Lolo). The colonizers having decided to transform it into a small town, they simply had the idea of naming it Lolodorf, literally "the village of Lolo". This region remains very little touristic. Walking around the village, you will notice the traces of German colonization: several villas and churches that were built at the turn of the 20th century, at the height of German domination over the country. The best symbol is certainly the villa occupied by the sub-prefect, which dominates the city from the plateau. From up there, you can enjoy a beautiful view of the village, where you can also visit several pygmy camps. Don't forget Lolodorf's culinary speciality: the goliath frog, preferably softened in the sauce made from wild mango kernels. A sauce that also goes well with the carp that are abundant in the local waters.
