The Oku massif is part of a volcanic group that includes Mount Oku, Mount Babanki, Mount Nyos and Mount Nkambé.The highest point is Kilum Mountain, at 3,011 m altitude. The massif contains numerous volcano craters, some of which are occupied by lakes. This is where most of the rivers in the Benoue basin (notably Katsina and Mentchum) have their source. Around 10 km west of Mount Oku lies the lake of the same name. 2.5 km wide and up to 50 m deep, Lake Oku lies in the hollow of a volcano crater at over 2,000 m altitude. To get there, it's best to be accompanied by a guide.
