Casa Piriquita, a historic house in Sintra, is a pastry shop (and tea room) located in the street that faces the castle. It is well known to gourmets and is always full. It is here that you can buy queijadas from Sintra, the local pastry shop (made with cottage cheese, sugar and cinnamon, not to mention many fresh eggs per kilo) that everyone enjoys. To avoid long queues at the counter, a more modern (and more common) branch is located at the top of the street, called Piriquita 2.

Une visite à Sintra ne sera pas complète sans un arrêt gourmand à Casa Piriquita pour déguster les travesseiros (gâteau feuilleté garni de crème d'oeufs) et le queijadas (un gâteau à base de fromage qui fait aussi un bon cadeau à emporter car il se conserve bien pendant quelques jours). Une délice!

Inescapable address. The atmosphere is friendly and waiting quickly is forgotten once you enjoyed at the travesseiros, who make the reputation of the place. They are almond pastries, eggs and sugar.
