It is one of the five restaurants of the Quinta Penha Longa Hotel, Golf and Spa complex (with historic 14th century monastery), well hidden in the forests of Sintra. The master of the restaurant, Sergi Arola (Spanish disciple of Ferrán Adriá and Pierre Gagnaire), regularly invites prestigious national and international chefs (Ricardo Costa, José Avillez...) for exclusive tasting menus combining the best of gourmet cuisine. Atmosphere lounge select or even DJ session and offbeat service with international faces...

An address located in the city centre, you climb a flight of stairs and access a warm room where you can taste local dishes and local wines. You can choose between a meal of "tapas" with a good cheese platter or a more classic meal: cod or a duck breast with sweet potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Vegetarians are not forgotten and will also benefit. Finally, the homemade desserts are also varied, including strawberries with port and cream ice cream.

This traditional restaurant is tucked away in one of the narrow streets in Sintra's historic center, at the top of the Fonte da Pipa staircase. It has a small terrace and a full-length dining room for large tables. On the menu, you'll find a varied choice of dishes with sauces, such as prawns with curry, steak with Roquefort or lamb chops with mint sauce. Live music is sometimes played during meals. Some dishes are better than others, but this remains an address offering good value for money.

Located outside the heart of Sintra (10 minutes by taxi), but for the specialities of eels and goats, there is no better! In an old barn, a rustic room decorated with objects of work, a pleasant welcome and a kitchen at the best of its form.

A gastronomic address in Sintra, located on the other side of the station, opposite the city's historic centre. Its refined cuisine is worth the trip. All light wood decor with wine bottles aligned on the wall with taste, soft light thanks to an inspiring mix of light bulbs. To enter, you will have to pass the two large columns like a Roman temple. The dishes will also impress you with their subtle presentation, as beautiful to look at as good to eat. This address is worth a lot of 10/10.

May the cod enthusiasts rejoice! Here is a restaurant where you can enjoy it in all its forms. Since its opening, this restaurant has been Sintra's favorite. We talk about it every corner of the street. It is not very easy to find (yes, it has to be earned!), so don't hesitate to ask the centre's shopkeepers. On the menu you can taste the revisited bacalhau pasteis, a trio of bruschettas using some of the tapas from the menu, or the cod hamburger. All these dishes were prepared by chef Ricardo Santos.

A good place to eat traditional dishes, in existence since 1970. Located not far from the station, you can spot the restaurant's entrance by its azulejo sign. Inside, the rustic decor evokes the Portuguese countryside, typical of any self-respecting traditional restaurant. A wide choice of dishes à la carte, including fish, meat and "combinados", something for everyone. Beware, if you don't specify, they tend to charge for what is known here as the "couvert" (bread, olives, etc.).

If you're in the mood for pesticos (Portuguese-style tapas), this address is open non-stop all day long! You'll find cheese and charcuterie platters, typical salads with cod and chickpeas, choriço assado, morcela... The space is divided into several small rooms and has a pretty vintage decor. A warm welcome awaits you, and you can also sit out on the terrace in fine weather. This address has become very popular, but reservations are essential.

Both a gourmet shop and a small canteen, it is a very pleasant place to stop for lunch. If you are lucky, you will find room on the terrace (seats are expensive). Otherwise there are a few tables inside to taste dishes of local delicatessen and cheese. If you prefer something lighter, you also have some very good salads, all homemade. To accompany all this, you will have a drinks list with a selection of homemade beers and wines.

This small restaurant with its welcoming and warm decoration is located in São Pedro de Sintra in the main street that joins the historical centre (in the descent 20 m after the traffic light). We come here for a small meal on the go, to taste it, or more simply toast with friends. At all times, it offers a cuisine based on "tapas" (petiscos). Especially since the products are very fresh and some of them are of organic origin. For the wines a small but rigorous selection. The owners also speak French.

Once a tea room, this is now a restaurant. Here, in a historic Sintra house, you can enjoy a fine meal, while admiring the painted and molded ceilings, the view over the gardens and the antique furniture. Everything is done to immerse you in the romantic Sintra of the 18th^{and 19th} centuries. The cuisine is Mediterranean-inspired, using the finest ingredients possible. There are also options for vegetarians, such as risotto with baby vegetables.

Since its creation in 2018, this restaurant-bar has not been empty. It must be said that it is extremely well located, in a small street very quiet, between two stairs. It has a shaded terrace where you will like to settle down to eat or have a drink with one or two tapas, in order to take a break from the bustle of the historical center. Here you will find tapas and typical Portuguese dishes like bacalhau a bras or prego não pão . The prices remain reasonable, a good option to eat not too expensive in Sintra.

The small municipal market of Vila de Sintra has been coming back to life for some time. It's a little hidden behind the National Palace, but it's a nice place to have lunch or a snack. While in the morning you can do your market with local products, at lunchtime you can have lunch at La Praça from a menu made with fresh and seasonal products. There is only one menu option and it is vegetarian (we prefer to warn you). But it is one of the few good vegetarian options in Sintra and we hope it will last!

It's one of the nuggets to be found at Penha Longa Resort, all orchestrated by Chef Arola. It is inspired by the cuisines of four Asian countries: China, Thailand, Japan and India. With an elegant ambience (sleek design and warm tones) that still feels relaxed, you'll be transported by the exotic scents on your plate. To enhance your meal, you'll have a beautiful view of the gardens, thanks to the huge bay window. Don't forget to call for a reservation before you come.

This cute, artistic establishment in São Pedro de Sintra was completely redecorated during the 2020 lockdown. You'll be greeted in a bright room with a wooden table and chairs, a beautiful composition of frames on the walls and a refurbished traditional china cabinet that sits at the back of the room. Let's not forget the collection of copper pans! On the menu, you will have the choice between typical bistro dishes: burgers, traditional Portuguese dishes, salad... All this with a warm service.
