Outbuilding of a former silk factory in Lisbon with temporary exhibitions of modern art on the first floor.

In this outbuilding of a former silk factory, right next to the gardens of das Amoreiras, we will discover works by the Cubist couple long exiled in France: Arpad Szenes (1897-1985) and Maria Helena Vieira da Silva (1908-1992). On the ground floor, temporary exhibitions of modern art follow one another regularly: in 2020, for example, one could see works by Eduardo Batarda (honouring the 1970s) or Ana Vidigal (work on intimacy, the domestic...).

Fondation Arpad Szenes- Vieira da Silva

C'est avec beaucoup de plaisir que j'ai découvert cette fondation consacrée aux oeuvres de ce couple qui a travaillé toute leur vie en émulation, qui s'est exilé en France et a côtoyé, à Paris en particulier, les cubistes, surréalistes et tous les artistes avant gardistes de cette époque.
En sortant du bâtiment ne pas oublier d'aller s'asseoir dans le ravissant jardin ombragé juste devant, pour observer les séniors papoter à l'ombre et les enfants se défouler sur leurs jeux, une belle tranche de vie lisboète.
