The Vasco da Gama Aquarium, located at the gateway to Lisbon, is not just a

aquarium, it's also a museum. A museum born of a prince's dream and ambition

to discover the depths of the ocean.

A visit to the Vasco da Gama Aquarium means you can climb aboard the Vasco da Gama yacht

Amelia, owned by the Portuguese royal family, sailing along the coast of

Sesimbra coast in the company of the then King of Portugal, Carlos I. From the

to the Vasco da Gama Aquarium, on a journey to the depths of the sea

and the slopes of the sea, where we can only contemplate from the sea.

The Vasco da Gama Aquarium is one of the oldest museum aquariums in the world. It

been visited by successive generations of families since its opening on May 20

1898. It is a historical heritage that promotes Portuguese aquatic life and

has the private oceanographic collection of King Carlos I.

Petit Aquarium aux portes de Lisbonne qui est aussi un (petit) musée des explorations aquatiques. Malgré ses dimensions modestes et un peu vétuste, il offre aux visiteurs un bon contact avec la faune aquatique.
Les récentes mises à jour ludiques et interactives font le bonheur des enfants.

Visited in April 2009.Exceptional, a magnificent aquarium, a visual richness and outstanding quality. Good description of the species presented. The strong point, the Giant pool or mingle with sharks, rays, fish moon, tuna... For lovers of underwater species, but also for all the others, I strongly recommend this stopover during the visit of Lisbon in the World Fair.
