30 km north of Lisbon, the Torres Vedras Lines are a key piece of Portuguese military history. Built in the 19th century, they stopped Napoleon's invasion before it reached the capital. This network of forts, between the Tagus and the Atlantic, illustrates a remarkable strategic defense. Today, the site's charm lies in its varied landscapes and diverse traditions, accessible via hiking trails linking its strategic points.
