Inaugurated in 1958, this imposing hotel has a roof terrace, a garden, several bars and 2 restaurants, including the Varanda de Lisboa (in addition to the one on the first floor), with a panoramic view of the city! On 8 floors, 262 rooms and suites equipped with every comfort with 24-hour room service and air conditioning. The rooms have been recently renovated and have a view of the castle or Martim Moniz Square. Some of them have a balcony. A beautiful luxury offer with a staff that is always ready to listen.

Lage super, Rezeption freundlich.

We stayed for seven nights. We would not stay again.

The good: central to most major Lisbon sights. Rooms are large and clean. The rooftop and lobby bars are a nice place to gather.

The bad: the rooms are not quiet. Be prepared to listen to the drunken songs of the homeless folks outside each night, accompanied by a Stomp-like soundtrack of clinking bottles and trash cans. The breakfast, while having sufficient options, is always crowded with large tour groups. It was not a pleasant way to begin the day. We paid for an early check-in, but the front desk assumed we hadn't and was somewhat rude about it.

The ugly: our shower (room 728) was not safe. It was difficult to get in and out of and incredibly slippery. Each member of my family slipped in there; and on our final night, I lost my footing getting out. I hit my face on both sides, cut my arm open and have bruises all over my body. The hotel did help us call EMS, but then tried to charge us for the call. This was a truly dangerous situation, and I anticipate others may have had the same experience. When we checked out, the front desk was not apologetic or concerned.

Updated: I contacted the manager with a very long e-mail about safety concerns. No one ever responded.

Fantastic hotel in a fantastic location. Already recommended to our friends and family should they ever decide to visit Lisbon. The halls and rooms were spotlessly clean, the staff were friendly and spoke English to an advanced level and I personally liked having my name on the TV screen in my room. I did not visit the rooftop bar but it looked lovely in the brochures but the breakfast was one of the best hotel breakfasts I have eaten during my travels across Europe. Continental and English options available (sausage, egg, bacon). Was a nice surprise as I forgot I had booked breakfast! Many amenities within walking distance and also a metro stop a stone's throw away for those who wish to venture further afield. Five stars to this four star hotel. Me and my girlfriend had a wonderful city break to Lisbon and she fell in love with Portugal on her second day in the country, as was her first-ever time visiting. The beds were super comfy and the bath was a nice touch to the beautiful room with a view.
