Imposing defense tower that offers a beautiful view of the Ijsselmer, the most famous building of the city in Enkhizen

On the edge of the old port of the pretty town of Enkhuizen, this imposing defensive tower (now a cultural centre and a café) offers a beautiful view of the Ijsselmeer. The building contains a famous carillon from all over the Netherlands. This building is probably the most famous in the city. Former south gate of the city, its construction dates back to 1540! It has had several names over the centuries, first Zuiderpoort (southern gate) or Ketenpoort. It has been known by its current name since the 19th century. On the ground floor there is a café.
