From Amsterdam Centraal station, take the train to Enkhuizen. The journey takes just under an hour. Once a fishing town, Enkhuizen has been successfully converted to tourism and boating since the construction of the large Ijsselmeer dam (1932). The beautiful city center, with its many 17th century facades, is a testimony to the city's former glory. The splendid Zuiderzeemuseum is especially worth a visit.
