The most famous building of the city, built in 1670, the bascule bridge over the Amsterdam River, connecting two banks
The Magere Brug is undoubtedly the city's best-known landmark, and is present in many memories. Built in 1670, this bridge over the Amsterdam River is a bascule bridge that links the two banks of the Amstel River at Kerkstraat (between Keizersgracht and Prinsengracht). During Advent, the bridge is decked out in a thousand lights, making it an even greater photographer's delight. It was immortalized in the James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. It is equipped with 1,800 LED lights, making it even more photogenic, while remaining "green".
