The time is long gone when Mursiya was one of the most beautiful Muslim cities in southern Spain, described by Alfonso X the Wise as the best city in Andalusia after Seville. Blue minarets, palaces with paradisiacal gardens, impressive walls, everything has disappeared. But what remains is the richness of its agriculture, which thrives on the plains bordering the Río Segura and has made its huerta the orchard and vegetable garden of Spain. The capital of the community is a peaceful place to live, but at weekends the streets are full of students. It is advisable to visit it from October onwards, when it recovers all its vitality.
