Hammamet is a coastal town in Tunisia, renowned for its fine sandy beaches and turquoise waters. It is located in the north-east of the country, 60 km from Tunis, on the Cap Bon. It is home to a popular seaside resort, particularly frequented by the jet set, which lines up all-inclusive hotel complexes along the sea. With a tourist guide, you should visit the old town with its medina with traditional houses, its souks and its historical monuments, but also the kasbah on the sea, the museums of the city including the one dedicated to religion, without forgetting the Roman archaeological site of Pupput. Not to be missed: Carthage Land with its aquatic playgrounds and its rides on the theme of ancient Carthage. One can also enjoy seeing the sumptuous sailboats, catamarans and yachts of the marina of Jasmine Hammamet, the integrated tourist resort that emerged from the sands in the south of the gulf at the end of the 1990s. Here the hotel complexes compete in luxury. Every summer the city's open-air theater hosts the famous Hammamet International Festival, dedicated since its creation in 1964 to music and art. When to go to Hammamet?
When to go to Tunisia? In Hammamet, as in the other seaside resorts of Tunisia, the high tourist season is concentrated in the months of July-August, the hottest period with an average of 30°C by the sea and where the water temperature is particularly pleasant (27°C). This is where you will find the highest hotel rates. The low tourist season runs from November to March or April. In low season, you will have hotel rates and stays at discounted rates. This is not always the case during the middle season. If the city of Hammamet remains alive all year round, the seaside hotel complexes close in low season and the sites are deserted.

The climate is Mediterranean in the north and along the coast, semi-arid in the interior and south. On average, temperatures are 12°C in winter and 30°C in summer. But we regularly find extreme temperatures depending on the region: winter snowfalls in Kroumirie (Aïn Draham) and nearly 50 °C in summer in the continental south. The high tourist season corresponds to summer on the coast while it coincides with autumn and winter in the Great South.
Life in Tunisia is significantly less expensive than in Europe. Everyday consumer goods are at least half the price and charming and luxury hotels are 30% cheaper with a very good level of comfort. The currency is the Tunisian dinar. You can pay mostly in cash for everyday purchases, but you can also pay by card in the major hotels. Exchange and withdrawal are easy in town. Tips are generally 10% of the bill.
For European Union nationals, no visa is required for Tunisia. For a stay of three months or less, you only need to present a passport, valid at least six months after your departure from Tunisia. It is also necessary to be able to present a round-trip ticket and sometimes justify sufficient resources in the event of a stay outside of the tour packages.
No vaccine is required for a trip to Tunisia and the country's health conditions are generally good. However, it is advisable to be vaccinated against typhoid and hepatitis A. Tap water is not always drinkable, it is necessary to drink mineral water or purified with tablets.
