Located 22 km west of Thala, near the Algerian border, Haïdra is a little known and little frequented ancient site which will give the opportunity to the contemplative ones to take advantage of its quietude and of its few vestiges. There are the remains of the ancient city of Ammaedara, the triumphal arch, the capitol, a building with troughs and an impressive citadel. A mosaic dating back more than 1,700 years was discovered in Haidra and was donated to the UN. Known to have been the first permanent camp of the legion 3 Augusta, the city counts today only very few vestiges of a pre-Roman presence, apart from the temple dedicated to Saturn.
