Located 37 km southwest of Souk-Ahras, on a small road that joins the Guelma-Ain Beida axis, Khemissa was called Thubursicum Numidarium under the reign of Trajan. It is an unknown site that deserves to be discovered. Among other remains are the forum, the capitol, the great thermal baths, a triumphal arch at three doors, the theatre, a monumental door, the basilica and the Byzantine fort. There is still a swimming pool dating from the Roman era. Ksar Tifech is a former citadel protected by a square towers.
