12 km north of Kecskemét (via Budapest Autoroute M 5 or by national 50). A country of sand and loess, with small tanya (farms) built on a alluvial pit. The first houses were built by the Coumans who came to the region at the invitation of King Béla IV to restock this country devastated by the raids of the hordes of tartar in 1241-1242. The Catholic Church was erected in 1896, that of reform in 1903. Some hotels and tourist restaurants have recently opened here. The Lajosmizse stud farm includes an extremely popular equestrian centre. In season, there are spectacular equestrian shows every day. The first World Equestrian Meeting was held in 1996. The most famous hostel in Lajosmizse is the Tanyacsárda.
