With its 97,000 inhabitants, Székesfehérvár is the ninth city of Hungary. Ancient buildings patinated by the time, museums and art galleries of the Old Town, curative water facilities, and its proximity to Lake Balaton, the Bakony Mountains and the Velence Lake make Székesfehérvár a popular tourist town. Founded by Prince Geza Geza, around 977, Székesfehérvár, rich in historic sites and monuments, was, until the sixteenth century, the city where the Hungarian kings were crowned. 10 km from there, in an open-air museum are the remains of the ancient Roman town, Gorsium, dating back to the third and fourth centuries.
