Situated 24 km from Paks by road 6, Dunaföldvár is a charming small town on the banks of the Danube which owes its name to its fortress, high in haste, in the th century, to monitor the Danube after Belgrade fell into the hands of the Turkish Army. See also, in the light of the streets and alleys, the «Turkish tower», a beautiful Orthodox Orthodox church in Baroque style, and a number of Art Nouveau buildings in the centre. It is also one of the few cities in Hungary to have preserved its monument to the liberating red army, along the Danube!
